Weaving at National Institute of Zorig Chusum, Thimphu Visit to  National Institute of Zorig Chusum (Institute of thirteen arts and crafts) at Thimphu was quite an experience. Bhutan is clearly proud of its culture and heritage and makes sure that it is not only protected but there is honour and dignity associated with it. 

View of Thimphu from Cycle Ride Managed to arrange bicycles for a ride from a hill near Takin reserve down to the Indian consulate and further to the main market area in Thimphu . Except for the last leg which was uphill, it was a nice ride downhill in the crisp early evening air at Thimphu with some nice views of Thimphu outskirts thrown in.

Buddha Dordenma statue at Thimphu, Bhutan The 51.5 meters bronze statue of Gautam Buddha at Thimphu , Bhutan is an imposing structure. It cannot be visualized without seeing it in real life. It was crafted in China and brought to Bhutan in distinct pieces to be assembled at site. While the structure is imposing with the necessary grandeur, I doubt if this comes close to the serenity of Buddha which can be experienced in several monasteries.
