Chai at Jaipur dhaba on Tea Day - 2

Chai at Jaipur dhaba on Tea Day - 2 It was fun to be near the fellow who was preparing the tea outside this dhaba at Jaipur and observe the entire process. The top view made an interesting composition with the flame below the tea vessel and the light of the flame illuminating the surface of the tin container next to it. ( Jaipur, 2017 ) See my blog - My pictures with their little stories

Battle of Britain monument on Thames riverfront

Bronze monument Stumbled upon this beautifully executed bronze monument of Battle of Britain (WWII) on the Thames riverfront. The monument was conceived by Bill Bond, founder of the Battle of Britain Historical Society and sculpted by Paul Day.  The casting was done by Morris Singer, which is the oldest established fine art foundry in the world. This picture, which is part of the monument, shows airmen scrambling for their aircraft during the battle. (London, 2017) Read blogs by Milind Sathe Blog on Medium On blogger

Early morning at Paddington station

Early morning at London Paddington station Early morning at London Paddington station was an entirely different experience than being here during the busy day time. This was around the time when the first trains were rolling out of the station. The play of light was spectacular with the train lights adding the extra drama.

Music at Edinburgh castle - 1

Harp and Flute at Edinburgh castle - 1 What a lovely pair they made. Very different personalities and instruments. They seemed to genuinely love playing their instruments. Went on and on, playing several famous compositions of western classical music.

Bhimbetka Collection 10

Bhimbetka Collection 10 Forces of nature have created such wonderful colours and textures at Bhimbetka. Here it is the play of beige, lavender, copper and turquoise blue, with rock art in the form of human figures. ( Bhimbetka, 2017 )

Bhimbetka Collection 9

Bhimbetka Collection 9 The rock patterns and textures at Bhimbetka , are storytellers by themselves. They narrate a long tale of what was happening there in terms of geology, weather, arrival of humans and possibly many more things. (Bhimbetka, 2017)

Life as seen from Darjeeling Himalayan Railway - 3

Life as seen from Darjeeling Himalayan Railway - 3 This fellow was probably the shop owner of this medical shop who was in the process of opening his shop when the train passed by. ( Shot from Darjeeling Himalayan Railway , 2017 )

Bhimbetka Collection 2

Bhimbetka Collection 2 This particular rock texture at Bhimbetka had to be captured primarily due to the beautiful play of copper colours. This frame was copper all the way to which I have a bias. ( Bimhbetka , 2017)

Bhimbetka Collection 8

Bhimbetka Collection 8 It is all about the textures and colours. This particular frame was all about lavender, purple and copper playing with each other over millions of years. Humans made an imprint only about few thousand years ago.  ( Bhimbetka , 2017)

Jali Colllection - 1

Jali Collection - 1, photo by Milind Sathe This is the first image from my series on Jali . Jali is a fascinating subject, not merely because of the intricate patterns and designs to be found in Jali work, but to me it has been a symbol of a barrier. When the barrier is beautiful, does it take away the harshness of the purpose itself ? ( Pune, 2017)

Mountains in Sikkim - 1

Mountains in Sikkim - 1 This was a day when the visibility was low, it was foggy and all grey. We were on our way to Nathula from Gangtok and the views of the Himalayan mountains and valleys were truly spectacular, despite the grey tones.  ( Sikkim , 2017 )

Bhimbetka Collection 4

Bhimbetka Collection 4 Interplay of the rock textures and rock art at Bhimbetka . Absolutely fascinating. The copper colours of the rocks had this ability to draw you in. No wonder that the primordial humans took to painting on these surfaces.

Leaves in magenta and green

Leaves in magenta and green Could not believe these colours of the leaves and the way the combination looked against light. Every little detail stood out - the magenta, the green, the overlapping part of the two leaves, the lines on the leaves and the magical illuminating effect due to the sunlight from the back. ( Pune, 2016 )

Solitary confinement cells at Cellular Jain, Andaman islands

Solitary confinement cells at Cellular Jain, Andaman islands A walk down this corridor at the cellular jail is bound to make you sad and angry. Sad when you see first hand the inhuman torture and suffering that our freedom fighters were subjected to by the British and angry because you realise that you have not done much to justify their sacrifices and have not even bothered to preserve their memory befitting their stature.  ( Cellular Jail, Port Blair , Andaman Islands , 2008 )

Shoving coal into the steam locomotive of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway

Shoving coal into the boiler of the steam locomotive The sight of the coal fired boiler of the steam locomotive with its door open is a rare sight. The loco staff opens it before the journey to top it up with coal. It is the moment when the lid of the boiler is opened, that the sight of the yellow orange dancing flames make you realise the power they hold and will soon unleash to make this loco pull the coaches of the narrow gauge Darjeeling Himalayan Railway . ( Darjeeling , 2017)

Young monks at Rumtek monastery reading the notice board

Young monks at Rumtek monastery reading the notice board There must have been some important notice put up at this monastery which made these young monks spend significant time reading and discussing it. The youngest, who was too short to look at the notice board, was trying to find out from others as to what their discussion was all about.  ( Rumtek monastery near Gangtok , 2017)
