Little girl at Ghum railway station

Little girl at Ghum railway station The momos and chai at Ghum railway station tea stall were delivered with an unexpected bonus. This little girl, who was the granddaughter of the lady running the show, turned out to be a very expressive kid. I really enjoyed my time at this tea stall playing with this little girl. Early morning at a railway station

Early morning at a railway station The light plays out in a fascinating manner in the early hours at a railway station. There is this constant light of tube lights on the platforms and the red signals. When a train arrives, the head lights of the locomotive seem to be stationary and they pick up speed when the train starts closing in piercing the darkness around and make the tracks shine. The lights in the coaches of the trains are the additional lights which play out and then the signal lights change to green and yellow. In a large railway station, this drama gets played out every few minutes till it is morning and the train lights are no longer needed. The drama of the light piercing the darkness has ended and a new day has begun.

A stop for Nilgiri Express

A stop for Nilgiri Express This stop for Nilgiri Express is meant for water to refilled in the steam locomotive. The cute little stations and surroundings are so pretty that you cannot but resist getting down at each station where the train makes a stop. There are vendors selling crispy vadas and chai at each of these stations. (2007 ) Here is my blog post on Nilgiri Mountain Railway

Nilgiri Passenger at Ketti railway station

Nilgiri Passenger at Katti railway station Nilgiri Passenger at Ketti railway station on the Ooty - Mettupalayam line. This station like others on this line are beautiful little structures and retain the old world charm. Life is easy and slow here and the only semblance of any hustle bustle is when a train arrives. Here the engine driver is ready to exchange his token and the green flag of the guard will go up soon. (2007) Here is my blog post on Nilgiri Mountain Railway
